Welcome to the First Annual Southwest Florida Umpire Camp

Dear Fellow Umpire,

Welcome to our website. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to consider attending the 1st Annual Southwest Florida Umpire Camp.

First, let me tell you about the camp. The Southwest Florida Umpire Camp is designed for the high school umpire that strives to advance to the next level. For various reasons, it is often difficult to achieve this goal.

As with other camps, SWFUC will give instruction in 2 and 3 man mechanics, NCAA rules, umpire procedures, a professional approach to the game and situations.

Unlike other camps, SWFUC students will be given the opportunity to umpire actual college games during the Gene Cusic Collegiate Baseball Classic. 150 NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college teams converge on Ft. Myers to begin their baseball season. Students will not only umpire games using 2 and 3 man crews, but they will be paid for each game worked. The fees earned can help defray the cost of the camp.

There are several criteria that must be met in order to be considered for the SWFUC. Applicants must be at least high school level umpires. Each applicant will submit an umpire resume. The resume must include a reference list. This camp is NOT for lower level umpires. Selected students must desire to become successful college umpires.

There will be three one-week sessions. The session dates are March 4-10, 11-17, and 18-24. Each session will be limited to 20 students. This assures an excellent student/instructor ratio.

I invite you to review the SWFUC website. I hope you find it informative. Thank you for your interest.

Good luck in your umpiring endeavors.

Clark Davis
Chief Instructor
